Tissue grasping forceps are used to hold, gently move or stabilise the soft tissue during surgical procedures. They can also be used to hold tissue whilst it is being dissected, during suturing or for holding dressings. The tissue grasping forceps generally feature ring handles with a ratchet style handle. This allows the user to lock the forceps in place.

Unlike tissue forceps, which are toothed, the tissue grasping forceps are generally have serrated tips, fenestrated tips and have tweezer style handles.
